Progress on a New Renderer
I’ve been working on a new USD renderer, supporting both GPU and CPU platforms using CUDA/OptiX and Embree. There are still many bugs to fix and features to implement, but I wanted to share some progress pictures. All rendered images use the Netflix Animation Studios ALab scene, linked here. Currently implemented features include: texture streaming, openpbr bsdf (courtesy of Adobe), tessellation of subdivision surfaces (only uninstanced ones for now), and basic integration and lighting. All images are rendered on the CPU path, with 8 samples per pixel, 1k textures, and an 8 GB texture cache.
